What are your reading at the moment & any suggestions

I got Patricia Cornwells "The Book of The Dead" and Martina Coles "Faces" for Xmas, have finished them both and enjoyed them both greatly!
I still think that Cornwell has slipped from earlier books but this one is much better than Predator was.
Faces is the usual London gangland type thing but it was a bit more poignant than her usual efforts.

Eloisa, is Book of the Dead a Scarpetta novel? If so, I`ll keep a lookout for it, I like Cornwell a lot, but Kathy Reichs has caught up in popularity I think.

Yes, it's the latest Scarpetta book and is defintely worth a read. She is still writing in the 3rd person which I am still struggling with and, without giving too much away she does things with Marino in this book that I don't like, although I can see it is a culmination of things from the previous few books.
Definitely think it's better than Predator, grab it from a second hand shop in case you disagree!
I have been into Kathy Reichs from the start, have read them all and think Tempe is more "human" than Kay, loved "Monday Mourning", having said that for me, Cornwell still reigns

I`m not sure who I prefer, I`m divided, have read all the Scarpetta books, and all Temp Brennan ones as well. Have just finished For the Sake of Elena, by Elizabeth George. It was OK, but have read better. Have just started The Coffin Dancer, by Jeffrey Deaver.

I`ve finished The Coffin Dancer, it was brilliant! Would make a fantastic film. Have now started A Thousand Golden Suns, by Khaled Hosseini, not sure how it`ll go down with me, it`s not my usual kind of read.

I'm reading Hugh Fearnley-Wittingstalls 'River Cottage Cookbook'

I thought there would be more recipes in but its mostly how to grow your own and raise your own livestock eg: how to choose the best breeders for your herd, how to protect your chickens from foxes & badgers !

Its interesting reading though

Just finished A Thousand Splendid Suns. What a brilliant book! Miles removed from what I usually read, but really enjoyed it, sad though it was. Anybody fancies giving it a try, let me know, I`ll post it on.

Have just started The Cold Moon, by Jeffrey Deavers, another of the Lincoln Rhyme books, so it should be good.

I`ve finished Kill Me, it was a bit slow and confusing to start with, but turned into a good book. Am now reading the first part of an omnibus by Lynne Heitman, the first one is called Hard Landing.

I`ve finished Parts Unknown, it was very good, a bit of a follow on from Hard Landing, but much better. Am now about to start another omnibus, this one by Peter Lovesey, titles are The House Sitter and Upon a Dark Night.

Read House sitter and enjoyed it, have started the 2nd part of the omnibus, Upon a Dark Night, and have found top my annoyance that it was written before the other one, and where the bloke is a widower in the one I`ve just finished because his wife was murdered, in this she`s still alive!

The Secret River by Kate Grenville.
It is a story about a Thames waterman in the 1800s who was convicted of a crime and transported to Australia with his family. A really good read. Just finished it and recommend it.

Can recommend The Kite Runner, by Khaled Hossein, it was the predecessor to A Thousand Splendid Suns, and they`re both brilliant books.
At the moment I`m reading The Woods, by Harlan Coban, and enjoying it. Haven`t read anything of his before.
