We shouldn't worry about the numbers game when we face United in the first derby of the season at Old Trafford on Saturday.

We've beaten United in 3 of our last 4 derbies at home and have lost only 1 of our last 5 league visits to the Red Theme Park, so many fancy our chances.

However, if you're looking at past encounters for a hint as to which way it might go then add this to the equation - it's been 32 years since we last managed to win at Old Trafford, thanks to Denis Law's backheel in 1974.

I think it's fair to say we shouldn't read too much into that, so what about recent form then?

At home, we're unbeaten in 8 games and have conceded only 1 goal, but away we've lost 6 of 8 and let in 16 goals. They, meanwhile, are 6 points clear at the top of the table after winning 13 of their 16 games so far.

But then again, that doesn't matter either, because as we will know, it's derby day so the form book will be strewn on Sir Matt Busby Way come Saturday lunchtime.

The only number that matters for City is 90 (as in minutes) - plus whatever stoppage time there is, of course!!

Stand firm and count each one by, and if we're still in it late on, make sure we take our chance, or we may even have it wrapped up by then !

We thought Shaun Goater did in 02-03, only for Nicolas Anelka to be penalised for handball, and last season Andy Cole was denied by a miraculous save from Edwin van der Sar.

I don't think we can say 'we're getting close so we're due one', but I think those two near-misses made the team believe we can do it.

It's certainly made me believe. Then maybe we can stop thinking about those other two numbers... 5-1.

COME ON CITY......CTID

3-1 final score.

Corradi sent of for diving, the cheating bar-steward! Never liked him when he was at Roma.
