Can i ask what the general prices in Turkey are like, compared with the likes of other popular holiday places such as the Canaries or Greece?.

It's a couple of years since I was last in Turkey, and it was then generally cheaper - eating out, drinks etc were very cheap. You needed to haggle hard for the clothing towels etc, though.

I do gather that since they revalued the lira to the new lira prices have started to rise somewhat.

No not yet - officially anyway, although many places do take the Euro. the revalued the Lira by knocking all the 000,000s off - so that the old "2,500,000 lire to the £1" became £2.50 to the £1.

It was my first time there last year, whilst I would not say it is cheap it was not expensive either (cheaper than Spain any how)

I am back there this year, the exchange rate is better than last year (it was low) and from reports its a lot quieter than last year (Bird Flu World Cup, belt tightening at home etc) so I expect it will be even better value, eating out is very good far better than Spain for choice and quality

I am hearing on HT that it so much quieter this year and what with the better exchange rate, it is even better value than last year, can't wait!
