Hi Choc,
Went along the coast to Sorrento from Naples about 20 years ago but did not stay there overnight.
I bought some beautiful inlaid wood which I still have, including a superb Chess board and a trinket box.
Classic Italian streets, Monastries & historical buildings.
I had the worst Pizza I have eaten in Italy but the best Oranges!!
If you are driving along the coastal road then make sure your life insurance is up together because they are complete lunatics.
No far up the road from Vesuvious and Pompei, both not to be missed.
Sorry can`t do better than that but the old brain is on the way out today. |

It is easy to get to Pompeii by train and don't forget Herculaneum. Train station just up the road from the town square. If you are standing with your back to the railings the train station is to your left. They speak good english so you won't have any problems buying your ticket. I think you could go every day and still won't see all of it. Herculaneum is much smaller but more intact. Come out of the station and walk down the hill. Train back will have Sorrento on the front. Have a lovely time and I am very jealous, I love Sorrento.

Thanks carol..
As its a wedding there will be a few of us going to pompeii, and one has been loads of times, so he knows the routes and what train to use, but iwas warned against the little kids offering stuff, whilst knicking your money
you get it everywhere, and i will try to be vigilant...
tony i wont be driving.. im not that brave...
