never been to Zante, so cant comment on accomodation but looks like a fair price.

i found the holiday for £704 so this perhaps wasnt the best deal

Hi Pam, did you have a good holiday? We went to Alikes years ago, 1987, and loved it, have you got any piccies? I`d love to see what it looks like now.

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves there Lois! Not very many people there either. .... I've got a picture of the main drag during the day..and it looks like a ghost town

It was really quiet when we were there, I just had this picture in my mind of it having really livened up, like most places do over the years, and getting spoilt. Glad to hear it`s still nice and quiet. Lost count of how masny times we walked through the edge of the water round to Alikanes and back.

We got a jeep out....few days later one of those buggy/go cart jobbies...

then mountain bikes!!!

Although I've never seen mountain bikes with a basket on the back before!

Made BIG mistake there though

!! Only intended a 'quiet' ride along to Alikanes...but got sidetracked with a sign saying 'look out point'...which ...in hindsight....SHOULD have told us that it would be high!!!

Only day we hadn't taken water with us too!

It was at St Nicholas Church in the village of Ano Gerakario. The road snaked to the summit! After a while O.H. said maybe we should give up...but I said we MUST be half way there! Pprrrf! we weren't even a third of the way up! We had to keep cycling because when you stopped you got surrounded by wasps from where you were sweating so much!! After about an hour or so we reached the top..THEN had to find the taverna with the lookout area! I drank nearly a litre and half of water straight off!!! It only took about 15minutes to ride down though!

We used to look up towards that church and wonder how long it would take to walk up there, glad we didn`t try it now! We took a moped out one day, and came off it on a mountainside, it was only thanks to a little bush that we didn`t roll down the hill! He said it was my fault for not leaning sideways when going round corners, but I didn`t want to fall off, so I sat up straight

I wouldn`t get back on it after that, and walked back to Alikes, about 5km. Never again

Lovely photos though.
