I've been to Ayia napa a few times but always early or late on in the season.
It is brilliant nightlife is what you want it to be.
If you fancy a mad night out then head for the square. if you want quiet then then harbour is for you. Beaches are fantastic.
Limmasol didn't like it, infact i hated it. And i would never go back there. Just driving through it last year gave me the creeps. No beach to speak of. And it is more a big town than a holiday resort.
paphos only stayed for 1 night and i didn't care for it much. Again not much of a beach to speak of. But had a nice little harbour.
protaras stayed here about 10 years ago and i liked it. Not enough nightlife for me then, but there are lovely bars and restaurants here. Oh and it has a lovely beach.
Car hire is easy and they drive on the left. We hired an open top jeep. And i wouldn't let mr wicked drive it at all.
it was my jeep.
This year were getting a scooter.
We may hire a jeep and drive down to paphos for the day. it takes us about an hour and half to drive down to paphos. then on the way back we will visit Limmassol (shudder) and Larnaca. |

ahhhh so if i was to stay in pathos...i could easily get to protaras if i hired a car.
for car hire is it best to do it before we go...or just get it out there.

it is easy to get from paphos to protaras but it can take around 1.5 hours.
If i remember rightly it is just a matter of starting of at one end and finishing at the other end.
When we stayed in Ayia napa, we hired a jeep for the day.
We left Napa around 10.00am and drove to larnaca had a drive around and had breakfast.
We then went to Limassol parked up went for a bit of a walk, then had another drive round Limassol.
Then we continued to paphos stopping at Aphodrites rock on the way.
We parked up at the harbour and went for lunch then we had a wonder round the harbour. Then back in the jeep and of to the tomb of the king just outside paphos.
We left paphos around 5.00pm and we arrived back in napa at 7.00pm
it was real easy to do this day out.
The 2nd time we went we just drove straight down to paphos as we booked into a hotel for 1 night to stay with friends of ours who were there the same time as us.
Hiring a jeep is real easy in Cyprus.
We always just hire one when we get there, usually for 3 days as you get a good price for 3 days.
and we never know which days we want the car. We just make that decission when we arrive there. |

Dottie I'm here at last
I think you've made a great decision by deciding on Paphos
There is so much to see and do in the area and if you hire a car
you can travel the whole island easily. It's great driving over there
as they drive on the same side as us and the lack of traffic on the
motorways and main roads between towns is fabulous.
There are loads of lovely hotels to chose from in Paphos.............
from basic up to 5* plus. This map will show where the majority of
them are http://www.kypros-cyprus.com/maps/paphos.jpg
I know you love waterparks so have a look here http://www.aphroditewaterpark.com/
and here http://www.fasouri-watermania.com/
If you want advice on hotels tell me what you're looking for and I'll
give you a list
The weather will be hot hot hot!!! and the water warm enough to swim
in the sea or pool............last September we couldn't get the kids
out of the sea
Gosh Dottie there is so much I want to tell you about
Expect a lot of pms
Just to be different from other people...........I found Limassol to
be very interesting with lots to see and fabulous shopping _________________

I would say Its around 3 hours to Protaras from Paphos Chris........ when we went to Troodos Mountains It took us two hours........ and Paphos was still another 60 miles to go........
We were thinking of driving on to Paphos when we came back from the Troodos Mountains, but decided against It....... It would have been too long a journey for us........ especially the kids
......... Nice to have you back Helen _________________

Yes Louise it takes about 2 and a half hours from Paphos to Protaras
We did it last year to Napa and it's definitely worth the journey
Yes Mick it is hot in September although not as hot as July
The sea is a lovely temperature for swimming in _________________

| We`ve been twice to Cyprus, each time in April, and had lovely weather each time. The first time we stayed in Limassol and the second time in Paphos, liked both. Aiya Napa we liked when we went during the day, but wouldn`t fancy being there at night, mainly because we`re boring and don`t like noisy night life, we prefer to go out and about and see things during the day, and just relax with a quiet meal at night. We drove from Paphos around the coast to the border checkpoint at Kato Pyrgos, found a hotel there that served great food, right on the beach, and the scenery on the way round was out of this world.,It took us about 2 hours to drive from Paphos to Aiya Napa, stopped off once to look at Larnaca, but didn`t like it, apart from the fort. |

It`s usually Paphos airport for Paphos, Mick, but there`s also an airport at Larnaca.
