Finished The Mephisto Club earlier, brilliant! It`d make a cracking film.
I`ve decided to have another go at the only book I`ve ever given up on, nearly 50 years ago when I was 14 or 15, War and Peace, so wish me luck! There are 958 pages, I`ve reached page 14 so far.

Still plodding on with War and Peace, reached page 158, it`s easier than last time, but all the Russian names are a bit confusing. Fear not, I intend to finish it, only 800 pages to go!

It`s not bad Sue, but like I said it`s difficult getting my tongue around the names. When I was 14 I read Anna Karenina and enjoyed it, so then thought I`d progress to this one, but it defeated me, so I`m determined to do it this time. Well done you for reading all those Alexander thingie`s books! Bet it took some doing.

I think it was when I was going through my swotty, pretentious stage (moi!!) Bit like when I took to carrying around a copy of the Metaphysical Poets, not having a clue what any of the poetry was about A bloke I fancied had taken to reading it to me, and I thought it was soooooo romantic to be read to

Well, it`s taken me 4 long weeks and 2 days, but I`ve managed to finish War and Peace! Back to normal reading now, just started The Risk of Darkness, by Susan Hill.

Just started on a compact version of Ovid's The Serpents Teeth, pretty nice for something picked out of the bargain bin for a euro

Finished Buried last night, bit slow at the start, but turned out to be good. Halfway through Without Warning, by Carol Smith now. As with another of her books I  read, lots of characters, takes a while for it all to gel, but OK now.
