Hilda , The clue is music, particularly piano music and perhaps the snow on the monument gives a clue to his nationality in Europe.
Ferruccio Busoni .. No its someone better known than that.

oooo ... I knew this would be difficult but it's more fun than I thought it was going to be.
Keep it up, Frank. I'm unlikely to be around over the weekend. Thanks. _________________ “A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and Tequilla” Mitch Ratcliffe

Just a reminder that this Polish pianist/composer has not been identified yet even though you know what year he died. _________________

Not famously to me, I had to look it up as I knew little about the guy. If you mean Majorca, then yes. _________________

re Chopin's winter in Mallorca (yes that is how I spell it!) if you ever go on a trip to the pretty village of Valldemossa, they delight in telling you how Chopin and his girlfriend/partner George Sand spent a winter there in 1838 as Chopin was advised to spend the winter in a warm climate due to his poor health.
Unfortunately it rained a lot, it took months for his piano to be delivered (before the days of vans with tail lifts!) and apparently he hated it....
George Sand wrote a book about their stay.
but you can still pay to see the rooms in the monastery where they stayed, and this famous piano!

Anyway, do you fancy giving us a new pic, AC? _________________ “A computer lets you make more mistakes faster than any other invention with the possible exceptions of handguns and Tequilla” Mitch Ratcliffe

Ok the last one was somebody I'd never seen before, maybe this one is similar. To avoid you wasting time, forget politicians, sportsmen and entertainers.
