i got some soluble weed feed and mosskiller,,,, but couldnt find me rose for me watering can so i shoved the dry contents in one of those things you attatch to your hose and it mixes the stuff and feeds it out thru the spray?? miracle gro thing it were............ well i turned on hose and started watering it out..... carefully spraying........... well within seconds the moss turned brown.......... o good stuff this,,,,,,,, then i thought maybe i better use the waterin can afterall, so i threw what was left out of the container over me lawn,,,,,, now there is a black splash type shape thing on me grass,,,,,,,,,,, patches have shrivelled and gone grey,,,,,,,,,,,, and thats not just the moss
its either gonna be very very green and lush over the next few weeks or im gonna have to re turf aaaaaaagggggggggggggghhhhhhh

Mosskiller is suposed to turn the moss black as it kills it but this is usually after a couple of days you should then rake out the dead moss, Overdosing is likely to burn/kill the grass if overdosed hope for heavy rain or spray it with plenty of water. Always READ THE INSTRUCTIONS when using garden chemicals.

For a kinder (to the soil) approach, you could try to sort the reason for the moss. Usually grows in shady or damp places ... is that how it is on your lawn? The dampness could be helped by removing the moss, digging in some gravel, to help drainage, then topdress with some compost & re-seed the patch. If shade is causing the moss, look to see if you can reduce that.

Youve overdosed it and burnt the tops. Itll be ages before it comes back - especially if we get a lot of warm weather now. wait a few days, then mow the black tops off....give it loads of water over a few days to wash the stuff out.

Well it IS possible if you (or neighbours) have trees, hedges etc

There you go ... lack of drainage IS the problem. The moss will just keep coming back unless that's dealt with. Only other thing you can really do is ... learn to love the moss

the only trees are in my garden, the other gardens go for the designer look, lights and decking and sleepers,,,,,, i like trees privacy and birds
it is drainage i think yet it slopes down a bit so youd think the boggy bit is at the bottom,,,,,,,, but its at the top! hence a larg amount of plants and bushes and trees to suck it all up
