I don't no if anyone remembers but I posted on here in April this year about the new pond we put in, anyway I have just seen lots of tiny baby fish in the corner of the pond in and around a big plant.
Should they be there this time of the year?
They are black and vary in size from 1 inch to 1 and a half inches long.
Should I do anything?
I can't believe they have bred so soon.

Hi Charlie...
Just try and give them plenty of hiding places from the bigger fish..
Plants and leaves are OK for them to hide around but depending on how big the bigger fish are they can move plants and get at the babies.
Large-ish stones and rocks are good, offering solid hiding places if you place them together and even better separating a bit of pond off for the baby ones creating a shallow area the big fish cant get over.. care again here as shallow areas can freeze easily.
In the winter months fish have a very slow metabolism and feed mainly on whatever is living in the pond so i don't think feeding is required or even a good idea as it can create problems.
