Definatly When the boat comes in, and a program I was hooked on when I was young called Crane, it was set in Morocco, it stared a guy called Patrict Allen. My mum knew I liked him so when she saw a play was on in Croydon with him in it she booked tickets for her dad and me, the problem was when it started she realised that the play was about wife swopping

Only thing is when they do repeat things i am always so disappointed cos seem to remember it being better lol!! Used to love flying doctors and sullivans. Son's and daughters, funny these were all on daytime when i was on maternity leave lol. Have never seen tutti frutti repeated and loved that as did hubby. Starred Robbie Coltrane anyone else remember?

I would love to see a rerun of boys from the blackstuff by Alan Bleasdale
it was shown in 1982,
For some reason it has to my knowledge never been shown again, not even on sky.
| Quote: | | Boys from The Black Stuff follows the stories of five unemployed tarmac layers (hence slang: 'the black stuff') after having lost their jobs. |
i think it might be a polical issue that has prevented it being repeated.
in a similer way as love thy neighbour has never had a rerun.due to pc correctness.
link boys for b f t blackstuff.

PS you might be right about some of the prgrammes, it's interesting to read what the BBC say about why they only have their progs on iPlayer for a short while too.

Cheesey as anything, and nothing like the reality of what life for them was really like, and only loosley based on the novels.
But wonderful!

I read the books as a kid and enjoyed them
but what has amazed me (after an afternoon googling, after seeing Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell in a film on TV...and discovering they had starred in a Disney film together as teenagers, about a politician in Dakota.......) (You can even watch this film on utube!)
was that the majority of the settlers in those days were German (the capital of North dakota is called Bismarck )
although Laura Ingalls Wilder's father was a descendant of a Mayflower passenger

Yes economic migration was popular then, without it the world would be very different.

Actually, some of my old favourites we see on ITV4 ..... Randall & Hopkirk deceased, Auf Wiedersehen Pet, The Champions, The Saint and so on. The channel is almost like traveling back in time.

Do you know the title of the first few books? I have been looking on Amazon, and can find several, but they are all of Laura when she gets older. Are the younger ones worth reading as an adult, or are they really only for kids?

This article lists the books, GQB.
Maybe you could get them on ebay?
or via your local library?
I haven't read them as an adult, but in my experience a well-written children's book is enjoyable whatever age you are!

They have them on Amazon, but they don't say which ones are which.
