Suggestions please for....A fast growing tree. My leylandii hedge at the bottom of the garden is dying off in one area and the hedge is a screen from the Clampitt's who live at the bottom of the garden. On the other side is their back kitchen door. Now, my hedge has lots of holes due to dead branches and I want to plant a fast growing tree to fill the area.
The tree guy suggested a variegated holly. I have a golden conifer a couple of feet away so I don't want another conifer. The only proviso is that it is a light green colour to contrast with the dark green leylandii. Any suggestions ? Must spread and grow to about 7 foot ( by next week )

i dont think anything grows faster than a leylandi....and i'm not too sure just how easy it would be to get something else established...when they will be competing with mature leylandi...they seem to sap every bit of goodness around them.
but mixters the man...he'll probably be here later...or tomorrow

Hi Hil,
A Leylandii dying off :bowling:
1) Don't tell anyone how it happened
2) Tell everyone how you did it at a cost

H. i cant find how tall they grow, but i would estimate towards 15 foot, as they are down only as a 'shrub'. But, they are slow growers!
