rubicon palace, playa blancaYou walk into the hotel and it is very impressive. But look a litle further and you'll see how tired it is
Reception
was very rushed the receptionist couldn't wait to book us in and get rid of us. gave us a scrappy bit of paper to say where the AI was allowed and a badly photocopied bit of paper trying to encourage you to upgrade to a better AI blue band, and telling you what you're allowed to have and not allowed in AI.
she pointed us to our room and that was it, next.No have a nice time or anything. On checking out handed over our keys and safe key gave us our deposit back and walked away, no goodbye nothing very un welcoming.
Followed her instructions at to where our room was long walk away from the lift on the seventh floor.
bedroom were clean but very dated, two large beds and a put me up for our 13 year old son, and a balcony with two chairs and a table with a nice view.
beds however were very very very hard. Bathroom was large, howver felt very dusty and a bit grubby, The maid cleaned our room very well.
Fodd was ok in snack bar by pool time it right and you get fresh pizza's but they go very quickly. A little tip, buy a bottle of water in the supermarket up the road and fill this up with the free water for your room, don't get bottles of water.
food in restaurants well presented an lots to choose from, included stuff for diabetics and some diet bread seed nuts etc. but can understand how people have said it would get boring. Waiters were ok but two mornings for breakfast there was no coffee and they just shrugged there shoulders and walked away. couple of the plates were cracked and dirty.
The entertainment is a joke the worst I've seen, spent most of our nights in the piano bar, which was not a lot better, however it was easier for us as it was near the pc where our son spent every evening on the internet, as there was nothing for him to do.
One day we did take a look at the teen club, supposed to be archery but they were playing chase (my son is 13 not 6)
The pools are impressive, and on most internet sights you see them all lovely and blue and empty, that is because they are so cold, they don't even warm up in the afternoon only went in once or twice, also watch around the pools tiles missing and quite slippery cos of the scum around the edges. Also by the poolside snack bar, you can see where the food and debris from there gets blown into yep the pool.
plenty of subeds loads of them so no worries there not a lot of umbrellas
the hotel was full of spanish and only really geared to them ,
The hotel is huge and spread out, but not much to do or see.
there are a few bars a couple of minutes from the hotel that you could walk to.
there is a little rocky bay outside the hotel that is great for snorkling
We caught the free bus to the town, not much to do there either.
On the whole very disappointed.
I quite but my finger on it, nothing wrong with the place but nothing right with it either
would not reccomend this hotel to my friends or family

Sorry about that Welshoney I always find that with AI I think it is better to go hald-baord in a town where there is lots of entertainment. Still you have been now and will know better next time.

ooh missed this last week.
Sorry to hear it was a bit dodgy, welshoney. We have found the pools very cold in Tenerife in February...but you would think the water would be OK by July......
if the hotel was full of Spanish, who did you book with? Seems strange there weren't more UK people there.
Still it sounds as if you made the most of it, and enjoyed having a break.
