Rockery/spreading flowersHiya,
I put in a flower bed around my little tree in the back garden (no idea what kind of tree it is , sorry), Its right in the corner of my garden, so is shaded at least half the day. It gets the morning sun though, til about lunchtime.
I've planted a heather (which may not survive, as it said "full sun" on the instructions) and a periwinkle, which is growing great. I also have some small plants - can't remember the name of them either. I'm not much help am I?
Heres my problem - cats. They haven't affected the heather or the periwinkle, but they have dug up a couple of bits of the small plants, so they are obviously not robust enough for that bit of the garden.
What else can I put in there, thats got a better chance of surviving digging cats, and is perennial, with no more than about 1 ft height, lots of spread, and some colour?
I'm open to suggestions, and I think I've got room for 2 or 3 more plants.
Ta guys,
Elaine

Hostas love the dark, and dont forget to put shingle around the plant to stop the slugs and snails, as they love this plant too...

Saxifrage! - thats it - the name of the wee plants I couldn't remember. They are the ones that have been dug up by the cats (well, half of them).

Elaine, you have to watch the periwinkle, it will take over all the patch otherwise.
