Well I for one can't wait for Sept so I can go back to wonderful Icmeler.
I've been going now for the last 6 years, and I can't make myself go anywhere else, I just love the place.
Fantastic weather, beautiful scenery and more important wonderful friendly people, for me its like a second home. So if anyones thinking of Turkey for their Hols next year give Icmeler a try you won't regret it.

Ps watch out for the Turkey bug once it bites you'll be hooked. Laughing

Colette

Ok update

Tiger from the Venice has now left and is opening his own bar Called Tigers, It is situated between the Lion Bar and The Blue Corner towards the beach.

Also Lee from The Venice, has taken over the old Hotel Emhiran (sp) has completely refurbished it and put in a new eaterie etc, this is called Heat and Breeze.

The Lighthouse Has been demolished, however has been rebuilt and has 7 new apartments on top.

The Majestic has opened this week if you fancy popping over for a bite to eat
TIMUK

Nice one

Some changes there then, we shall be checking them out again in August {can't wait}
jojo

Whats the weather like in Icmeler in April. We are going there for the 1st time 14th-28th and is everything open or is it very quiet.
Robert123

Jons news letter

http://www.icmeleronline.com/newsletter/march2006.htm
TIMUK

Excellent reading

All that's needed now is for me to get into shape before we return

The Pier sounds great for Fishing off, might see if I can take a Rod with me
Tango Bunny

Anyone got any recommendations for accomodation in Icemeler.I've looked through all the reviews on various sites but can't make up my mind. We'd like to be at the Marmaris end but other than that not fussy...SC or B+B
Robert123

Well I like the Babadan Apartments
Tango Bunny

Where abouts are they Robert....bearing in mind I've not been there before
Robert123

It's hard to describe Tango, just outside the main drag but not to far to walk they are very nice the location is perfect I have written a reveiw on HT if you want a look
Tango Bunny

Ok I'm off for a look now.Reason I'm being a bit fussy is we like the look of Icemelar very much but am afraid we might find it a bit boring of an evening so would like to be near enough to Marmaris to walk in if we fancy a bit more life.OH can't walk huge distances after having a heart bypass a few years ago so we thought if we opted for that end of the resort we could have the best of both worlds
Tango Bunny

Read your report Robert...they sound good I'll deffo keep them in mind
Trust you to eat the figs off the trees
Colette

Pier?

I heard it's a Marina for the boats, as Nestle Marina in Icmeler wasn't taking them any more?

I like the canal area, so always opt for apartments or hotel around this area
Robert123

I found there was plenty going on in the evening Tango

I stand corrected, I have been informed it is a Pier, not a Marina as I was lead to believe.

How about copying the review to here...for those with no access to HT?
nuttynet

its one hell of a walk into marmaris from icmelor. i think a dolmus would be your best bet,but i wouldnt worry theres plenty to keep you busy in icmelor you only need marmaris if your looking for big night clubs.
Tango Bunny

Posted this reply but for some reson it went into where are you going thread.....so I'll try again
I was told that if you had accomodation near the Marmaris end then it was only a short prom walk into Marmaris itself.....not having been there I don't know if this info is correct. We have been to Marmaris before but stayed in the Almutalan area
Colette

I know people who did this walk, it's about 45 mins to reach Marmaris, it's a nice walk, however Marmaris is like walking the full length of Blackpool

So even though you would reach Marmaris, it would take you another hour or two to walk it's full lenght, including time for looking in shops etc?

you can get a dolmus which will stop anywhere you wish, or a water Taxi from Icmeler to Marmaris?
Tango Bunny

Thanks Colette.
I really want to go back to Turkey this yaer if possible.OH not so keen as last time we went(Marmaris) he and eldest daughter ended up in hospital for 2 days with amoebic dysentry.....bit of an off putter for them....hasn't put me off coz I wasn't ill,but I can see where they are coming from
ola12387

I went to Icmeler Last year and Steve and I loved it, it is the most wonderful place the people are lovely the food is lovely infact the whole place is fab.

We are off to egypt this year with the kids but If I get half a chance I might see if I can get a week there in September.
Geddy

Turkish Delight

Sandyglen

No rain on the 15th May either
Geddy

Robert123

I am in August
Geddy

We are going in August aswell, staying at the lighthouse apartments.
Robert123

k&r

Robert123

Just got back from babadan last night a great time was had by all
hilda

hey up boblet
wondered if you were there again, reports please!!
numberplease

Hey, Robert, where`ve you been? Apart from Turkey of course!
I must admit to preferring Marmaris to Icmeler, although my daughter thinks the other way round, We stayed at the Hotel Zarif, on the beach, quite a way down.
Robert123

Cheers numberplease

the answer to your question is

Where haven't I been

Now I can't stand Marmaris much too lively for me, prefer things a little more low key especially now I have reached 40
numberplease

When we were there, it was Icmeler that seemed the liveliest. Mind you, we went at the start of the season, early May.
k&r

oooooooooo we didnt like marmaris either rob, it seemed scruffy and yucky, maybe its cos i am not far off 40!!!!!!!!

what are the babadan apartments near, we didnt see them?
Robert123

Just between the town and the old village, just past Romance Palace
Geddy

We arrived back last night from lovely Icmeler, booked to go back next August.

We stayed at the Lighthouse apartments, they were spotless.

We walked past the Babadan, but never went in.

Karen, were was Palm Gardens ?
Robert123

Well booked to go back tot he babadan next year
hilda

Well this will be my 4th visit, so I guess we like it, the locations great the staff are good, the apartments are OK
Geddy

We have also booked again for next year, staying at Avlu 4, going in August & got a cheap deal.
k&r

hi gedds, glad you had a fab time!

i really did love the place

palm gardens are just off the main street, behind the anatolion restaurant, across the road from the baron restaurant.........

i am also there july aug, we come home on the 7 aug i think
Geddy

The Baron, now thats a place to pass on the other side of the road !!!!!!

Yer we always have good time in Icmeler.

We are going to miss you again, we get there on 14th August, staying for 2 weeks.

I bet you loved the Efes.
k&r

hubby liked the efes, bless, several bottles in fact

i dont drink much, but i took a bottle of malibu with me it went nicely with my glass of coke i bourght

did drink the efes but one bottle went to my head well, they are big

we loved captain bullshits and dreamboys, although the portions were a bit scrawny in dreamboys...but the food was very good.

went to marmaris to eat by the harbour, its mostly a shitty place, didnt like it much, food was nice though

how funny would it be if we were all there at the same time one year we are also going back 2009 cos my brother and his family want to come with us......

where is your favourite place to eat?
hilda

titanic,,,,,,,,,,, i think of all the restraunts we tried,,, and we went to most,,,,,,,, that one gave the best variety of stuff on the plate,,,, steak i dont normally eat, but it was lovely and done to perfection ,,,, and you got veg too,,, either ratatouille, or mixed beans and julienne carrots,,,,,,,,, most places give you mash, AND chips And rice,, atkins diterers nightmare,

and if you are in olu deniz,,,,,,,,,,buzz bar over looking the beach,,,,,,,,,,, bloody gorgoues gormet food,,,,,,,,chicken in mustard honey and rosemary, baked in a little iron pot,,,,,,,,,,,,,,mmmmmmmmmmm fresh pasta and homemade sauce for the kids, who wolfed it
Geddy

Our fav place to eat was the Chef, also like the Lighthouse, Wayside & the Champaigne Bar. Ive been to Icmeler for the last 5 years, already got a very good, cheap deal for next year, reckon we will go every year.
k&r

after next year i think we may try DIY, but havnt got a clue!

it kind of puts me off incase something goes wrong........like this year, firstchoice didnt havea plane on the monday, so we got back a day late!

i may need to pick your brains for a nice apartment but it must have a biggish pool!
Robert123

My favourite places to eat are Chef, love boat, Villa Kontes & Romance palace,
k&r

hello rob, nice to see you here!

i dont think we saw the chef, we must try and find it next year, did any of you try the lemon tree, that seems to get good reviews
Robert123

k&r wrote:

Hi K

The Chef is next door to the love boat, top end of the canal, the Lemon tree got a couple of dodgy reports on the ICR forum, but also some good ones
Geddy

Yer, must agree, the Chef, it was our favourite for eating, lovely toilets aswell. Heard good reports about the lemon tree, but we didn't try it.

Karen, you really do need to do DIY. So must cheaper.
k&r

diy is a must i think, but i would maybe panic!!!!!!!!

we went to a place in marmaris and it had lovely air c o n in its toilets!!!!!

we want to find the stella show next year aswell, i have added " find the chef " to the list too now!

rob, are you going next year?
Geddy

We did the Stella show this year, its very good, but we didn't like the food. there was 9 of us & only 1 enjoyed her food.
k&r

why didnt you like the food geddy?

has anyone done the jeep safari?
Geddy

I had spag bol, it was very bland, no taste & not enough to feed a mouse.

A friend had a so called fillet steak, looked more like frying steak.

Karen had mushrooms, which were well overcooked.

I would go back to watch the show again, but wouldn't eat there ever again.

Only 11 months to go.
Geddy

Oh, for got to say,

Some of our friends have done the jeep safari, but i haven't, i go quad biking instead.

They really enjoyed it, getting soaked & very dirty.
k&r

we wanted to do the jeep thing this year, but it seemed way to hot to be riding about all day in an open topped jeep........hopefully next year...

i have so many things planned for next year, i cant wait

think we will give it a miss eating there then, and maybe just go and watch the show....

finally got an engagement ring out of hubby, well 3 to be excact as i couldnt make up my mind its just 16 years to late

i really cant believe that i have found a place that i WANT to back too, its always been a new counrty every year
Geddy

I only went to Turkey, to have a holiday with friends, didn't really fancy it to be honest, but we really fell in love with Icmeler & next year will be our 6th year running !!!!!

I know its a big world with lots of wonderfull places, ive lived in Singapore, visited Hong Kong & a few other countries, but never had a holiday as enjoyable as we do in Icmeler.

We usually have 2 weeks in Icmeler as our main holiday & a late deal for a week some were else.
laws1

Last time we went I remember it being quite a way from the airport.

How long does it take to get there from the airport now?
k&r

i think it took us around an hour and a half, maybe a bit less to get there laws.....

cant wait for next july to go again!
laws1

That sounds about right Karen.

Just wondered if they had built a new road
hilda

is the gocek tunnel open now! dosent that make the journey the other way, to olu etc, quicker??
i remember icmeler having a stop after 45 mins then carrying on for another hour or so
k&r

hilda, we paid for a private transfer, as we just wanted to get there, so we didnt have a comfort stop.

no idea about a tunnel, they are building one somewhere, and there was a new road being built on our way to the airport.....

hubby thinks i have gone quite mad, as i seem to love the place, and i felt quite safe ther walking about with loopy on our own,

except for the git faced waiters opposite the anatolion restaurant, who just shouted all the time when we walked past

in the end i just told them we werent eating in there cos they hassle and we dont like it, so i will report them if they carry on.....
