need some helpi am really bad at gardening and need some advice. have just dug up this raised flower bed, and need some ideas what to plant in it.
it is really clayey and stoney. we were thinking about putting alpines into it or just a big plant in the middle, and covering the rest in woodchip.
i want something that looks after itself and lasts all year. any help would be very appreciated !

I'd put something like a ceanothus in the corner.......it's evergreen so at least you'll have cover all year.
Do you want to cover the walls as well?
Low growing saxifrige, alpines and rockery plants will be fine but you may have to dig in some good quality compost first

my flowerbed now.
it needs a few more bits in it.
next summer we are going to put some ornamental grasses in there and some boulders.
