My Brothers wedding in SeptemberMy brother is getting married here
www.flocellierecastle.com
He is booking the Keep & the Pavillion for the 2 familes. I am really looking forward to it. We are just wondering what would be the best way to get there. Was thinking about bringing the car but might be a lot of driving. The flights are very expensive we have looked into flying into Nantes for 2 adults & 1 child cheapest seems to be just short of 800. Was thinking of doing euro-disney for a day.
Not sure if we should drive or take the high speed train from somewhere that is a 90 min drive away

Wow, that looks absolutely fantastic
Can't tell you about the travel either, sorry, but I spent a lot of my holidays in that area when I was young, and the journey down in a car, always seemed so long to me and my brother.

Yes Sue and it is only for a week so may not be worth the time spend travelling better mabe even though expensive to fly and hire a car will have to explore it a bit more

Hi Carol - that looks fab
I have stayed in that area and we drove there - took 2 days

Carol

Ok 2 days is way to much when we are just going for a week

Carol have you tried flybe? you could do Dublin to southampton and then Southampton to LaRochelle
|
Carol

Will definatly take a a look Gail is La Rochelle even closer than Nantes
Suppose if I just take a look on the map can find that out

We have driven to Nantes (my daughter Julie used to live there) we drove down to dover and stopped overnight in Calais on the way and on the way back, I would say its too long a journey with Thomas.
It looks fabulous.
Eurodisney is a long way from Nantes.

I think there is some sort of express train from nantes to Paris.
Might look into this does anyone have any information on this

Plans changed
We now do not have to drive.
My Dad wants to drive all the gear there.
Even though we have booked flights into Nantes on Sun 23rd September we are now thinking of flying directly to Paris on that Sunday and do Euro Disney 1st then get a train to Nantes and then hire a car or 2 or maybe even talk my Dad into collecting some of us

Congratulations to your brother and his wife Carol. My friend did the same when they got married, so that they will celebrate their anniversary on the day they had the blessing and reception
at your text!!!!!!

They are not counting today as their Anniversary.
But I reckon I will remember 11th Sep easier (for obvious reasons) rather than 28th Sep.
My Sister (who is pregnant & cant go to wedding in France) and her husband were the only 2 who attended todays proceedings.
I bet they had a good day went for a meal and drinkies after

Nice for your sister to be able to have a celebration with them today then
|
Carol

Yes well they were just going to go alone and not make a big deal of it and pull 2 wittnesses in from the street (basically)
But when they heard that my Sis and BIL could not go to France they decided that it would just be the 4 of them and intimate thingy,
My sister was chuffed to be so involved

Aww that's nice that your sis was able to share today with them. I bet it made it a bit more special than they'd originally planned. Bet you're all looking forward to the "wedding" now!
Best of luck to them, hope it all goes perfectly for them.

Had a great time despite the cold weather.
Would not recommend the chateau that they got married in.
Fantastic setting the food was amazing.
But the castle was very old and there was no central heating and you couldnt lock any door.
There were no shops near-by.
All that being said the fact that the whole group stayed together meant that we did have a good time and with 10 cars altogether meant that if you needed to go anywhere there was always someone willing to drive
