LavenderI have quite a few Lavender bushes that have grown a little too big for my garden. When and how do I cut them back in size before they start flowering again :?:
Many thanks

Cut them back in spring. But, if they are really leggy and old, it may pay you to pull them out and plant new ones

The beauty of gardening is that you can watch your babies grow.. ..

Look just above the propagation section for tips on cutting back when and how much.. ..

Thats ok as long as you want bare ground as they are 'rooting' themselves thru summer. Some people like to see results straight away.

Thank you for both your replies.
I will cut them back in spring as they were only planted a couple of years ago and had a lovely display last summer.
Roll on the better weather so we can all get out in our gardens again

i would do some layering. just put a nick in the stem then bury that part in the soil and leave for a year and you will get new roots growing out of the nick.

Thats a good compromise if you have some decent side shoots you can bend over.
