Josh RitterThe Historical Conquests of ..... (2007)Has anybody else heard of this American folk/rock singer/songwriter? He only came to my attention recently, although this is his fifth album (I've since gotten hold of his previous album, The Animal Years, which is pretty good). This one is really a fine piece of work, everyone I play it to really likes him and his voice. There is a strong dose of Bob Dylan running through it, I'll admit I'm not a Dylan fan, but the other influences manage to over come that adding up to an album that is a real grower. There is also a complete concert online at http://www.fabchannel.com By the way if you don't know fab channel: its a music site that carries recordings of live concerts given at a number of Amsterdam venues like Paradiso and Melkweg. There is some excellent stuff there, including Suzanne Vega's recent concert: you can see me in the crowd
