HurricanesWe are going to Florida next year in the Hurricane Season (august) and just wondered what to expect - is it just rain and a bit wind or is it wild like they show on the tv - i'm supposing the ones shown on tv are the worst cases.....
Has anyone been caught up in one in Florida? if so how was it for you?

My sister was caught up in one in Mexico in August 5 years ago, they had to stay in their rooms and were told the best place was the bathroom, there was some damage but mainly to trees & the pool area but it was quickly cleared up by the staff and they enjoyed the rest of their holiday.
I have booked to go to Mexico in September. (hurricane season)
there is no point worrying about it, people who live in Florida cope with it.
just look forward to it .

My friend was caught up in a hurricane a couple of years ago and all that happened was they had to stay in their appartment for 24 hours until it had passed .
Only real impact it had on them was the chapel where they were getting married had it's roof blown off so they had to cancel their wedding and get married over here when they got back.
But they still went on to have a great holiday and it hasn't put them off because they are returning this year at the same time for the third year running.
I was lucky last year as i just missed a hurricane it hit just a couple of day's after our return, i just hope im as lucky this year lol.

Friends of ours went to the Keys last year..got to hotel and were immediatly evacuated...you don't mess with a hurricane...as what happened to New Orleans last year demonstrated. In Mexico some hotels were put out of commission for months.
