Home compostingI have been doing home composting for the last few years.
I put in the usual stuff grass cuttings, leaves ,vegetable peelings, fruit, human & animal hairs , teabags egg shells etc etc
I heard recently that you can also put in bread.
Can anyone tell me if this is true

I would expect it to rot down like anything else. Why do you hesitate at bread, Carol?

Just that the local council sent a list of things just that bread was not on it.
It also said that veg that was cooked was not allowed. Why would that be to you know

I imagine the cooked veg would turn to mush maybe. Im baffled about the bread...maybe draws rats???

Maybe you are right about rats (hope not cause I did put some on the bin) it is a plastic composting bin so am happy that they wouldnt get near me.
I would have imagined that cooked veg (as long as they were not mixed with anything) would break down the same as raw

TBH...im sure ive seen people put EVERYTHING in some of these bins...after all it only has to be bio-degradable.

i had a double side by side composter, lovely soil, but i had tunnels where the rats were going on their merry way, and while they were at it they ate all the veg and do you know the bloody egg shell were still in there, they dont rot down very quickly.
just got a plastic one now, it will have to do.
