Hebe hedgeI have a well established hedge made up of hebes but I have noticed a dull white bloom on the leaves of one section. Does anyone know what this is and should I be treating it?

Sounds like a fungil infection to me. We have hebe bush in our garden but haven't had any problem with them -- yet

I may take a leaf into the garden centre and see if they know. I did suspect it looked fungal. Grey powdery film over the leaves.Funny how it has not spread to the rest of the hedge though...YET!!

That's a distinct possibility Mick.

Reading the literature it sounds like a fungus. This section of the hedge is near to a row of leylandii so maybe they are leaching all the moisture. Also , in the spring the hedge was cut down by about a foot. Maybe it shocked it too much. Anyway, I bought a bottle of fugicide today and have given it a good spraying which I have to repeat in 2 weeks. So I'll see how it goes.

The conifers will certainly be leeching any available moisture in the ground. Canyou not lose them all together?
