Cutting the grassCan anyone tell me when is it safe to start cutting the grass again in the spring? Looks like it will be down to me to do it!!

You just need to wait whilst the weather is dry, with no risk of frost. For the first cut of the year, just take the top off, by setting the blade at a higher point than usual - then bring it down a notch for the next cut after a fortnight. This stops 'yellowing' of the grass by exposing the lower shoots.

The lawnmowers are going already round my way. Isn't a bit early? The grass is quite dry though.

New gardener says you can still mow the grass when it's wet. But not when it's raining heavily I'm no gardener I'm afraid! Lawns is his speciality apparently. Ours is full of moss etc so I'm hoping he will turn it into a bowling green!
