CavanCan anyone help,
My Mother in law is looking for somewhere to stay in Cavan.
A B&B or Guest House. On a budget. For two/three nights, two adults sharing a room.
And what is the cheapest way to get to Irleand?
They are travelling next May.
Thank you.

Hi Carol,
I think it's County Cavan, but I have emailed her to double check.
They are coming from London, and neither drive.
They are going there to look up church records etc.... Mum in law's grandparents were from there, before they moved to Scotland.
Thank you
Karen
PS How far is it from Dublin, could they not stay there and get a train to Cavan?

The nearest airport in Ireland to Cavan would be Dublin so if they could get cheap flights.
Next option would be to get a bus (from London) then boat (to Dublin)
If it is Cavan town there are no trains into Cavan. (in saying that if it is County there is no trains either) Cavan is not on any rail service.
They would need to get a bus from Dublin but it really depends on where exactly in Cavan they are going not everyplace would have a direct bus service.
When you find out where they are going I will find out best B&B prices as one of my best friends lives in Cavan and she would know more about best places to stay etc.
Not sure exactly how far Cavan town is in miles but probably about an hours drive from Dublin

Hi Carol
She has just text me to say the address they want to be near to is....
FARNHAM CAVAN.
It is the Family Research place.
Do you know which Cavan it's in?
Thank you for your help.

Give me a few minutes and I will find out where it is
Cavan is a County and there is a town (as such the capital of this County) is also called Cavan

Ok I am not 100% sure where they are going but there is a Genealogical Research Centre in Farnham Street Cavan Town so I can only assume that this is where they are headed for.
This website may help it will take me a day or 2 to get some B&B's I will also ask my friend if there are any private buses that are cheaper than the one in the website

No worries Karen and please promise me that if I dont get back to you that your PM to remind. I have an awful habit of forgetting what I promise someone and wouldnt want you to think that I am being ruse. I just forget.
Oh just another question was going to ask what age but really better asking if they are mobile enough could they walk a bit or do they need to be very near to research centre
