Caravanning in KentWe are looking for a small, quiet touring caravan site in the Isle of Sheppey region of Kent. Must have toilets and washing facilities, but don`t want to be on a holiday park with amusements and swimming pools. Hope someone can help?

Hi Number...
I'll ask my neighbour who has a touring buddy on the Island.. ..
Might take a couple of days to get an answer.. ..
Have you got the new 2oo8 calendar

We stayed here for two nights last year, I can't remember how close it is to Isle of Sheppy though http://www.homingpark.co.uk/touring_camping.asp lovely site and very friendly staff.

Many thanks to both of you. Julie, that site isn`t too far away, I`ll look deeper into it, we`re going to see some friends who live on the island, at Minster-on-Sea, so don`t want to be too far from where they live.
Wudja, no, I haven`t got the calendar, I`d already had a calendar bought for me, and hanging up space is limited, plus OH says we only need one!

Hi Number.. ..
There is a touring park at Minster on Sea.

Google Maps
Laundry shower & toilet facilities. Looks small on the map and seems to tick all your boxes.. ..
Your not going to views of rolling countryside or woodland as Sheppey is quite flat all around the coastline.

Wudja, if it checks out OK that site looks great, and in just the right area as well! I don`t expect rolling hills and cliff scenery, we`ve been to Sheppey before, but only on a day visit, not to stay. Thank you, xx

Wudja, I tried their website, but it didn`t work, so I tried emailing them, and it was returned, so either they`ve changed their email address and website, or they`re not there now.

I`ve just found that they were closed for refurbishment in 2007, maybe they`re not open again yet.

Hi Number. ...
I'm still with you on this quest.. ..
My neighbour hasn't got back to me yet..
I did Google the site myself and found some council planning applications and one stated they wanted to remove all the touring pitches for static vans
Council refused permission stating at least 12 have to stay.
Planning also went in back in 2006 for some bungalows which i think can be seen on the google map. (Google mapping was updated late last summer in the south east)
My neighbour i think is on the committee of a touring club and they regularly have weekends at local rallies. He should know someone near the Minster site or another touring site nearby..
