Caravan holiday at New England BayThis might upset some people but what the hel...
I hooked up my Carlight 2 berth barely legal caravan and set off to New England Bay, south of Stranraer. Towing a caravan is exhausting and the journey is over 200 miles for me. Towing a caravan like mine is even more exhausting. On the way up, the door blew off and was swiftly run over and smashed to pieces by a truck. So when I put up my caravan, or whatever the technical term is, I used a towel for my door. Sleeping was ok and I didn't wake up with any badgers in my bed.
New England Bay is beautiful, there's nothing to do, I had perfect weather and I was looking over the sea. My new pushbike was waiting and I got into some serious cycling.
Now, ordering my paper, you could hear a pin drop because it wasn't 'Mein Mail'. 'The Guardian please', I said to raised eyebrows. Everyone seemed to be a golfer and made little borders around their patches. They all went in at the same time and switched on their tellies to watch Corrie. I couldn't believe the little England mentality. They were pleasant enough, but there's got to be more to life than reading The Mail and getting paranoid, standing in queues to was your vegetables.
Don't get me wrong, the site was beautiful, clean and quiet... but you don't have to be a golfer/Mail reader to go caravanning, so let's have not let them take over this form of holiday.

I think there is a caravan type, but I think it may be changing. I loved it... I've been on 2 consecutive years and if I can get the shed on a trailer in some sort of condition, I'll go again. I cycled about 200 miles round and about and, with perfect weather, it was fantastic. There's no space in England; Scotland is perfect to get away from it all, it's got space, beauty, hills and unspoilt coastlines. You just have to be careful with the weather.
