Boston UnitedJust a few (about 4) short years ago, our local team, Boston United were promoted into the 4th division to my youngest son`s delight. Then there was a scandal, involving the owner and manager of the club being involved in a case of fraud. They were found guilty but spared jail, the club was heavily fined which took every penny they had, and they started to slide downhill. The other week they were relegated, twice in one week, and last week it was announced that they had no manager and only 3 players, and the remaining staff and players hadn`t been paid for 3 months. Today it`s been announced that there has been a takeover, and the new owners have said they are going to look for players and a manager, quickly, as they don`t have long to register for the new season. I`m not a footie fan, but all the males in my family are, so jolly good luck to them!

Thanks Playboy. Like I said, I`m not a fan, but it wasn`t the fault of the team that the hierarchy got greedy and crooked. My youngest son has been a fan for years, used to write a weekly column in the local paper for them.

The owner of the football ground, one of those done for fraud, has now put the stadium and ground up for sale! But the council have stipulated that whoever buys it must make provision for the football club, so a pitch will have to be dredged up from somewhere.
