Barcelo Santiago Tenerife - with piccies!!We've just got back from a lovely week here. The hotel is in Puerto Santiago near Los Gigantes.
Here is the entrance...(click to enlarge the photo)
There is a lot more of the hotel built on the side of the cliffs....
the next picture shows our room with a wobbly red cross I added
(in paint shop pro...not really on the balcony wall )
We had an amazing view.
This was sunset over la Gomera
as seen from our balcony
The hotel has an international mix of guests, young and old.
The pools are sort of in-between the first and second pictures... (you can see some of the parasols in the second picture, there is a vast sun terrace).
It was very strange going upstairs to the pool and dining room!
Because the hotel is built on the side of the cliff, the back wall along the corridor is open, with terraces....
The pool area was lovely.
There were 2 main pools, one infinity pool and a freeform pool (half of which was heated..the join was under the bridge).
There was also a kiddies pool, a paddling pool and a jacuzzi.
The water wasn't very warm in February, but we had a few dips.
There is an attentive lifeguard there.
The pools were tiled in royal blue, unlike the normal turquoise.
There was a big pool bar.
Oh and you could get enormous pool towels too.
The food was excellent, mostly buffet but there were a couple of a la carte restaruants too.
There was an enormous choice at the buffet.
There was also a spa and a gym, and an entertainment lounge.
Here is a view of Mount Teide from the sun terrace.
When we arrived it had no snow on it, but one night we had 2 thunderstorms
and this is how the mountain looked the next day!
We did loads of walking. All of it involves hills and steps
but the scenery is so spectacular it is worth it
You can go one way to Los Gigantes, which take 30 mins
or the other way to Playa Arena, via Playa Santiago, which also took 30 mins.
Here is the view on the way to Playa Arena.
Here is Playa Arena
(If you can see past the flowerpot)
We had a wonderful time
and I would recommend the hotel
