Not reaally it was just that I had this vision of glittery high heeled wellies I supose if you could get them the heels would be good for making planting holes
shorty

aw I wanted you to carry on in the ooh topic about the allotment!!
GoldenChippie

well i probably will!
shorty

good! Hey on BBC1 breakfast news they've been on about growing your own veg, apparently its all the rage now. Courgettes are meant to be very easy!!
GoldenChippie

i've heard that I have a rasberry plant a gift from my SIL lol - it looks like a nettle
gypsy93

i will post some pics later of hubs two allotments plus fruit cage, shed and greenhouse--we eat all year round off it and it takes a lot of work--i don't have any real interest in it, but if anyones got any questions about growing stuff, i'm sure he'll be glad to answer them.
Trish

It is hard work, gypsy, but addictive too. I love it
GoldenChippie

here's a piccy of the allotment - pre any work!!! lol thats my - im not bloody digging it face!!

Emma

Gail i would love to have an allotmnet, they have some around the corner from ours.

Maggies uncle has an allotmnet and he used to take me when i was little.

I would to hear your progress on your pitch as time goes by.

I am loving the face Gail, like this means business!!
Sorry if i missed it but what are you aiming to be growing here?
shorty

ace!!! Its huge!!! You could feed the whole forum all year round!! So, when are you starting the serious work then?
Trish

Gail it looks great. Most of the work is done for you on there!!!!!!!!!
shorty

wow thats a heck of a difference Trish!!
Guest1

Looks like someones left gails full of produce. Has someone snuffed it here??

Trish...THATS what i call overgrown.
GoldenChippie

I'm absolutely HOPELESS with growing stuff!

I didn't realise until we moved into the countryside, that brussels grew on stick things until I saw them at a farm shop! I thought they grew out of the ground like little cabbages

..and when we first moved here I spent hours moving a load of plants cos we had to put a damp course in.....a visiting friend told me a week later that I ought to 'pull those dead nettles' up
vonny

Love the pic Gail

good luck with it

uve worked hard on yours Trish
bet its lovely now

lol we made two compost bins last sunday from pallets, was quite theraputic hammering nails in!!!

have nearly cleared the main patch, cut down the hedge at the back and tidied it up a bit, i dont think we are going to attempt anything growing untill spring. We are trying to get some manure delivered and will dig that in.

Well ive got leeks and parsnips still growing for Xmas...and ive just this week put some winter onions in that will harvest from May onwards. Ive got them under a fine mesh to keep the birds off and a bit of heat around them.
Trish

Nice one Mick, they'll both taste great once they've had
a bit of frost on them.
Guest1

Ooo...and...ive a rake of this years onion harvest hung up in the garage! Im attempting to be self sufficient in onions for a whole year. These will last till at least Feb next year if not longer.
GoldenChippie

i can plait onions!!!
Guest1

i bet i could as well. its something thats never played on my mind to do tho.
Trish

..
Emma

Gail, how is your allotment coming along?
Guest1

no point asking her technical questions like that just now, emma....shes with a gaggle of others staggering round town, pissed as you like (probably )...without a care (for allotments) in the world.
Emma
