Well emma..

I'm sure you'll love it.. Cyprus is a lovely island the Cypriot people are very friendly and welcoming.

I've not been to Protaras, so not much help there...Cromwell's the one to talk to about that area.

You must hire a car and look round the island it's well worth it..

hope you enjoy it..

Emma there is loads to do in Cyprus I have been going there for nearly 20 years since I was a small baby.
There is the waterpark in napa thats a fantastic day out for all ages. The troodos mountains are also worth a visit - this can be done by hiring a car or doing a coach trip. There are boat trips and there is a cruise to egypt that is 3 days so you definitely wont be bored

Sorry guys....... just saw this on here Embarassed Rolling Eyes

FiZZ, we personally have only ever been to the East side of Cyprus, Protaras, Pernera, Ayia Napa etc.

We go back for the 3rd time in July. As for Beaches....... they are, in my opinion, the best on the Island. Very Happy
Fig Tree Bay is lovely........ but does tend to get quite packed, especially on a weekend. There are lots of little bays dotted around the coastline etc though....... not as busy. Wink
Protaras itself has one main "Strip" where you will find numerous Bars, Restaurants etc. Theres also Crazy Golf, Bowling, Games Arcades for children (and adults Embarassed ).
Protaras is very family orientated....... but plenty of couples go there aswell. Wink Let me know if you need to know anything else in particular... only too glad to help

Emma, make sure you go to Ayia Napa Waterpark........ Its so huge you could spend the whole day there....... we do! Laughing
We ally have a Breakfast before going into the Park (It opens around 10.00am) which sets us up for the day..... apart from snacks obviously.
Its quite expensive to eat in there..... and youre not allowed to take your own food in. Sad Ayia Napa also have a great Funfair...... Razz
We went on the 3 day Mini Cruise when we last went to Cyprus....... fantastic experience! There are plenty of places in and around Cyprus that do lots of different excursions........ so dont worry........ you will have plenty to do when you are there! Cool

http://www.kypros-cyprus.com/index.html....... this link tells you more about this beautiful Island aswell

Thanks for that louise its really useful to know!

We are definitely going to Ayia Napa when we are there, is it best getting a bus or a taxi?

How much will the cruise cost to Egypt? Can you do it in a day or has it got to be 3 days?

Thanks emma x

Emma, buses are pretty cheap in Cyprus....... you can catch a bus on Protaras "strip" for the Waterpark........ It drops you off right outside the Waterpark aswell Very Happy ......... word of warning though........ the journeys can be a little erratic, to say the least Confused
Not sure how much a Taxi would cost, but a good Tip........... before you get into a Taxi, ask the price to your destination...... we do this all the time.... they cant put the price up then Wink
We went on a 3day Trip to Egypt....... I think they also do 2days but im not 100% sure. It was around £220 for 2 adults and 2 children....... all your meals are included in the price. Drinks on board cost about the same as in Cyprus Very Happy You can do the Egypt Trip in one day aswell....... but you will have to Fly for that.

FiZZ, we ALWAYS go through a Travel Agent (Thomas Cook this time) and SC. We love to eat out every night at a different Restaurant you see....... there are so many diff places to choose from, it seems a waste not to try them............. Shocked Very Happy

Pernera, a resort in itself just near Protaras, is lovely. Very Happy

We stayed at the Marlita Beach....... great location, right next to a lovely lttle Bay..... and only yards from Supermarkets, Shops, Bars and Restaurants........ the meals are lovely around this area, in the Restaurants. Wink

Fizz try Napa Ive been going there for over 20 years and my parents retired there its brilliant has great nightlife restaurants etc. and is a bit less family orientated than Protaras - I find protaras full of the buggy brigade and it does my head in

i posted earlier about next years hol in the greece forum, but have looked here and now think cyprus might be a better bet, protaras sound great, can anyone recommend a hotel/apparts ( pref self catering) which is on the beach? we will be 3 adults and 4 teens and need a great pool for them and direct access for the OH--his only requirement! also nightlife, but not blackpool in the sun. am i asking too much? thanks.
Cromwell

Hi Gypsy

OOh there are lots of Hotels and Apts near the Beach In Protaras and Penera, where we go. (34 days and counting )

....... as you have teens aswell, I would go for somewhere like the Rising Star Apts, or Golden Star...... great location ..we stayed at the Marlita Beach, Pernera, and It was also lovely....... our children were younger though....... but having said that, we shall be returning this year to use their facilities during the day......

We are actually staying at the Andreotis Apts this year........ only 400 metres from FigTree Bay....... but In a perfect position. We are just at the beginning of the "strip" In Protaras....... this Is where you will find a lot of Bars, Restaurants, etc........ not to mention some shops.
