Either On Lead Or Bass, Mine are as Follows
1.Jimi Hendrix - An Inspiration to anybody who picks up a guitar, Genious, one comes along every so often and he was one of them, unfortunatly, like Most Genious' He had his problems, and the fact he was on every drug going led to his untimely death, if i could have one wish, it would be to see him play, my dad has seen him loads, and im gutted. Nobody will ever play an axe like him.
2. Jimmy Page - Not Technically Great, But i love Led Zep, and his solos on I & II are incredible, hes a legend.
3.Duane Allman - My uncle put me onto the Allman Brothers, and there guitar work is insane, the older band i play with do alot of there stuff, and that is a major reason why i joined.
4.Flea Of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Chilis are probably my favourite band, And its largely due to the Basslines Flea comes up with, His technique is brilliant, He has a slap and pick technique, and with some plucking thrown in here and there, The Jazz Bass with Light guage strings is unusual for a Bassist, also hes equipped with A Wah Wah, and hes a genious.
5. Keith Richards - What a bloke, he should of been dead about 40 years ago, but hes still rocking it. And his riffs are fantastic. Especially on tracks like Paint it black. although when he was out of it, he used to have it tuned to open chords. but he can still outplay most guitarists.
6.John Frusciante Of the Red Hots- Technically hes been dead 5 times, because your technically dead when you OD, im so so so glad he never fully died, Because hes on his way to becoming one of the best guitarists of a generation. He was Good on Mothers milk and incredible on Blood sugar sex magik, but In the Shadow of Hilliel, who was hard to replace, he was trying to capture hillels sound, When he left and Navarro joined i was gutted, I got alot of his solo work, and saw a docu on him, and he was living in squalor, it seemed like he wanted to die. but When Flea And Kiedis asked him to rejoin in 99 for californication, i was overjoyed, He was obviously rusty, and he looked rough, his hair was matted, he had absesses on his arms from his heroine abuse, he wasnt great at finding veins....But on By the way, he had stepped up, fantastic, and then on Stadium arcadium, he became my current favourite guitarist, His solos are incredible and theres one on every track, And he looks much better, hes on OZONE now, and he has put weight on,and looked great on tour. and im so happy he wasnt another Kurt cobain.
7.Eric Clapton - simply because he took one of my favourite Songs, Cocaine, and made it better, Classic. He can work over a guitar all year.
8.Slash - Just because his riffs are so well known, and i leanrt the appetite for destruction and Greatest hits,Chord for chord, not perfect, i just sat in my roof until i could play it all. and now i can play Sweet child behind my head! Slash is quality.

Brian May is quality, and ould of been in at 9, if he would of been in a different band, he probably would of been much higher. _________________ I feel like nothin' I do is ever right

Well being a Yes fan I'll have to go for Steve Howe...amazing live, and on bass Chris Squire.
Always liked Santana. John Williams and Julian Bream although thats classical guitar.
Oh and the guys in Wishbone Ash. Oh and Mike Oldfield...suprisingly good live. |
