mine has to be Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. at book with romance and mystery. i first read it at school and i it was the first book i actually enjoyed reading. i've got 4 copies of it plus the dvd of the film.

I find this a very difficult question to answer, I have read so many books and enjoyed almost all of them, but going back to my childhood, I can`t remember how many times I read and re-read Louisa May Alcott`s books "Little Women", "Good Wives" and "Little Men". I mention 3 because they followed on from one another, and I absolutely LOVED them! I haven`t read them now for about 40 odd years, I`d love to find them and read them again, just to see if they still hold the same fascination for me.

oh this is difficult, i've loved so many books, but if i think back to my childhood my faves would be, 'anne of green gables', 'what katy did' , 'jane eyre', 'to kill a mocking bird' and 'cider with rosie'. these days my taste is not so -well tasteful , i loved 'the da vinci code' and 'the last day' and all the chick lit i read. i keep all my books and have now run out of room as i have about 1500, i want to do a boot sale--but i just can't part with them

I like books with a sense of the eerie...two of my favourites are The House on the Borderland by William Hope Hodgson and the Colour Out of Space by H P Lovecraft.

This is a hard one, I have read so many good books, but one author does stand out James Herbert, Rats, Lair, Magic Cottage I have read of his books.

Also most Marian Keyes books, Rachels holiday was funny and so was The Other Side Of The Story..

I`ve only read 2 of his books, one about a dog, can`t quite remember the title, Fluke or something, which I enjoyed, and Magic Cottage, which I didn`t like at all, so it rather put me off reading anymore of his books.

difficult for me any John Grisham book i have read every single one at least twice , also the same for Bill Brysons books but "Ntes from a small island" is the best as you relate to the places involved if you have been there , and for sentimental reason i have read and enjoyed Cranford by Elizabeth Gaskell , as its based in and around Knutsford and as my great great grandfather lived next door to her names in the book are family knutsford names and he is mentioned , also she is buried in the town ,

took me 35 years to read it thou

TOBG, Cranford, that takes me back to my schooldays, we read it in English Lit, and unusually for a school book, I quite enjoyed it.

I think after careful consideration that im going to say
"A Woman of Substance" Barbara Taylor Bradford. I loved it. I remember my mother reading it when I was growing up reading my secret 7, famous 5 and malory towers and I used to flick through it and wonder how on earth anyone could read such a thick book. Then in my early twenties I bought it and adored it and the continuing saga it started

I have never read the Lord of the Rings trilology. But everyone, including Mr Grumpy, went on about it. But I didn't want to, as nothing ever lives up to the hype. But then I decided to read them to see what was the fuss was about.
Currently on the first one - Fellowship of the Ring. Bloody marvellous. Tolkein's use of language and character building is wonderful. Recently bought the extended version on DVD, but want to finish reading before I watch the films!

I also liked "A time to kill" by John Grisham. Although I read it after I saw the film - which is the wrong way round!

I love Sherlock Holmes. Doyle's use of the English language is quite beautiful.
