If anyone would like advice on villa holidays in Kissimmee I will try to help. We owned a rental property for many years in Chatham Circle off the 192 in Kissimmee and sold about a year ago. So we know the area, and facilities and have some hints and tips for would be holiday makers. Also we have directions from both Orlando Int. Airport and Sanford Int. Airport to Kissimmee. Shopping hints etc.

Hi
I am going to florida in sept for the second time i have my flights, car hire and theme park tickets all sorted i've booked all of them through virgin, i now have to sort out accomadation.
At the moment im not sure if we should go for a villa or just go back to the hotel we stopped at last year on idrive.
Right what i want to know is where is the best place to hire a villa? we have only visited old town in kissimmee and to be honest i wasnt really that keen i felt as if it was quite run down and couldn't wait to get out of there so i wouldn't want anywhere near there but i want somewhere that is close to the parks ( don't want much do i lol)
And is it easy to get from orlando international to kissimmee?
We didn't do very well with the driving last year and we got lost loads of times lol.
Any help would be appreiciated
many thanks mel

Hi Mel...I would deffo go for a villa. We were in Chatham Park and were with Resortquest but there are plenty of places to rent villas from. I agree that Old Town is a bit naff but you don't need to stay in that area if you don't want to.There are some villa owners on HT who would be able to help you. When I have a mo I will send you the instructions to get to the 192 from Orlando Int airport.

Hi hbrac

We are off to Florida in July for 2 weeks, it will be our first time.

We are stopping in a villa in Davenport, The Manors at Westridge... Do you know it?

We would very much appreciate any info you could offer for our 'first time'. We are flying into Sanford Airport and will be driving to the Villa from there, Hubby has never driven in the states before and I think I am more nervous than him Laughing

We are planning on just getting a 14 Ultimate Disney ticket for starters and then just paying as we go if we find we want to go else where. I personally would love to go to Busch Gardens and also take the Boys to Gatorland, and I know Hubby would like a day at a beach somewhere.

Like I said all info of any kind greatly welcomed..

Thanks, Katy xxx

Hi Katy
I have heard of your accomodation but have never been to Davenport. I only have directions from the airport to Kissimmee and the area round our old villa. If you download a map from the net it will give you more idea of where you are heading.
Sanford is a smaller airport than Orlando Int and is very easy to get in and out of.
Driving in the States is easy. Have a look on HT search for hints and tips in the America section. Jeff is a good person for this.
The main large chain shops are Walmart, Target and K mart and then there are the outlet Malls with lots of individual shops like Gap, Reebock etc.
The theme park ticket choices have changed since we were last there so our info is out of date.

Thanks hbrac for your quick reply...

I will have a nose around Ht and the net now that Christmas is over and the holiday season is looming Laughing

I am sure we will have as much fun trying to find our way around as we will in the Themes parks Wink it all adds to the hoilday experience I suppose...

Thanks again for your info and help

No prob Katy...as everything has been covered already on HT it would be quicker for you to go straight there and look for different topics that interest you. If there's anything not covered just ask. How old are your children?

Thankyou hbrac & mel-1810

I have looked at the DIBB site, it's very good cheers... think I will need a nice quiet evening to myself and a big stack of paper for the printer for that one Wink

My boys are 12 and 14, which I think is a nice age for them to take it all in and not get too tired too soon, they will proberly out run us this holiday Confused We always said we would take them to disneyland when they were a bit older. We have been to Disneyland Paris 3 times and we all loved it so this is going to be such a treat for us all Laughing

I don't know who's getting more excited, me Embarassed , Hubby Embarassed or the boys

When we went to Orlando first time, we did not book accomodation. If you are out of season, then they are begging you to stay places Smile

We simply drove down town, popped into a tourist advice place, picked up a free magazine dialed a few numbers and got a very nice place with communal pool, very cheaply.

It was a very painless process.

Hello everyone,
I've just come back from Florida, for those of you traveling there this summer.
You may be interested to know that the price for parking at Walt Disney World and the Universal Studios complexes are both $9.00 a day.
If you have multi passes and are going out of the parks anytime of the day but returning keep your parking passes as they are valid all day.
If any of you are members of Costco's in Britain you can use your Costco card in their stores in Florida. They have a deal at the moment for a Universal Pass for three months for $85 which allows you into both Universal Studios and Islands of Adventures.
You can also buy attraction tickets in most of the big Wal-mat shops. In their vacation offices.
