What are your top 5? If you were locked up and had a CD player (which you do actually get in prison nowadays, and DVD players,Cell Key,TV,Carpet,Double bed,Central heating, ensuite,Xbox, laptop etc)
you were only allowed 5 cds to listen to in there, what would you choose? would you take Compilations,or opt For classics like such as Hendrix Electic Ladyland, or the Beatles Revolver album?
List them.

Ooooo, do I get to choose compilations as well?
To be honest, if it was forever, I couldn't choose 5 as after a while, even amazing albums would become hated. It's like what Decartes said about hell being locked in a room with your friends forever.
I think you'll approve of most of my choices, Liam.
Essential Bob Dylan
Best of Hendrix (there are so many, can't decide which!)
Revolver - The Beatles (either that or the 'blue' and 'red' albums)
The Immaculate Collection - Madonna. I know it's not up there as a work of art like anything Hendrix, The Beatles or Dylan did, but I just love it - it's just great pop music.
The last album would contain songs that I had burnt onto a disc myself of my favourite songs!!!!!
OK Computer by Radiohead - just choosing this as it's no1 on every f***ing top 100 albums ever and I think it's a pile of S**T!!!!!! So, infact, NO I don't want this one. _________________

I am glad that a Beatles album is #1. But I can never understand why Peppers is always rated better than Revolver. Revolver is far better and more ground-breaking and was the album released before Peppers! I would certainly have put "Revolver" as #1. Micheal Jackson's Thriller is an excellent album, but IMO, not a #2.
Actually, the top ten is much better than what usually gets voted for in these poles, and whilst I don't fully agree with them all, I approve - just! That's why I like Radio 2!
Can you imagine if Radio 1 listeners voted???? You'd get absolute sh**e in there.
I've (or should I say "we've") actually got all of those albums that are in the top 10, all on vinyl. Most of them originals. _________________

One of the reasons that only quality albums are in the top 10 is that Radio 2 stipulated that the album had to have topped the album charts at some time to be nominated.
I am a huge Beatle fan from being a teenager in the 60's . I always thought Sargeant Pepper was their best work, being a concept album inspired by the Beach Boys Pet Sounds. It coincided with their experiments with filtered vocals and electronic synthesised music. Their first attempt at electronic psychedelia was in fact manifested in the last track on the Revolver Album "Tomorrow never knows".
Whilst a spendid album, I thought Revolver was marred by the track "I want to tell you" which for some inexplicable reason is sung flat in places.
In fact Revolver came in at No.6

My Top 5, Which i never tire of hearing are
Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Chile (The Greatest Hits) I can listen to Jimi forever, i hear something new everytime, something i missed, Greatest musician of all time.
Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the moon. Not 1 bad song, an album i can listen to the whole way through, and enjoy the music, and hear things they could do, that bands cant even do today, pioneers of rock music. The album is genious, and gets the nod over wish you were here,Because the length, although Wish you were here as shine on you crazy diamond on,probably my favourite floyd number.
Essential Bob Dylan - Its Classic, I love dylan, hes the main reason i started writing songs and poems and such,he had so simplistic lyrics, yet they were so meaningful, he was and is Brilliant (Modern Times is Immense too,New album)
The Kinks- Ultimate Collection. Again, Kinks were before there time, in the way they played and the lyrics they had, So many classic, and Great songs which you can help smile at and sing too, I challenge anybody to listen to sunny afternoon, and not smile and fantasize about what hes singing.
Red hot Chili Peppers- Various- Id burn a disk, I love the early chillis, Especially Uplift Mofo Party Plan, and Then i love Blood sugar sex magik, The second album with John Frusciante and first with Chad smith. Then i liked the Navaro days, But when John came by with californication, it was an awesoe sound, and he got better on By the way, and On stadium arcadium, he became my favourite living guitarist. His solos are incredible, and i could listen to the chilis for ever, Amazing bands, and they make you dance! _________________ I feel like nothin' I do is ever right

For a young chav, Liam. You certainly have an ecletic mature musical taste, for which I positively approve of!
Isn't that Essential Bob Dylan album just amazing? I also could listen to Hendrix forever. His version of Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower" is my favourite song ever. When I listen to that guitar riff in the middle of the song, nothing else matters in the world. No matter what I am doing, I stop and listen to it.
In that "top 100", where was Bob Marley??? Did any one his albums make no1? Who voted for any of the Spice Girls albums? Andhow did they come above anything U2, The Beatles, etc etc etc etc etc ever do?? _________________

How wasnt the Stones in the top 10? Fleetwood mac and U2 Made it in above the Stones?! thats why i hate polls like this!
and im not a chav, im going to become a hippy, and bring it back to the forefront, and make it popular again!
I was shocked bob marley didnt make it in there.
and The essential Bob Dylan is a classic, My Favourite Dylan cut is Hurricane or Tangled up in blue.
As for Hendrix, I get gooselumps when i hear Voodoo chile, The opening is like nothing i heard before, when i learnt how to play that, i was smiling for about 9 weeks. That probably my favourite Hendrix number, But i llove the riff to crosstown traffic, And the Whole Red house song, And Fire, and Machine gun....but one of my all time favourites, Little Wing. My Lord, that song is a classic. _________________ I feel like nothin' I do is ever right

Apologies for calling you a chav!
Hurricane and Tangled up in Blue are superb songs.
I thought it was just me who got goosebumps listening to Hendrix! Voodoo Chile - cool song, great riff. My friend played it at her partners funeral - it was really a fitting departure to him xx _________________

well, mine would be as follows,
1) Cradle of Filths Nymphetamine
2) Cradle of filths Cruelty and the Beast
3) Manowar's Anthology
4) Iron Maidens Best of the Beast
5) Judas Priests The Essential Judas Priest.
OK, so 3,4 and 5 are all comp CD's but when i love the bans as much as i do, its hard to chose one CD from each, so i went with the best of each. _________________
