Ingredients:
2lbs caster sugar
397g tin condensed milk
1oz butter
small carton of single cream
half to one teaspoon vanilla essence
Mix everything together in a large-ish pan. Bring to the boil very very slowly over a low heat (takes about half an hour) stirring all the time.
Boil for around 20 mins, still stirring all the time, until it darkens in colour and goes like toffee when you drop it in a glass of cold water.
Take it off the heat and beat with a wooden spoon. At the first sign of sugariness (or when you are bored/knackered) pour into a buttered baking tray (or I use a non buttered square pyrex dish) and leave to cool and harden.
Mark out into squares before its properly hard.
Eat and get very very fat.

Its Tablet, I think brings back some childhood memories. My mother used to make it a lot. Used to love scraping the pot when it was still warm. |

oooh I'd love to try some!! I have to say that it turns out slightly different each time I make it, I think it depends on how long you beat it for at the end, but its ALWAYS delicious!!
