guest made an off-the-cuff comment in another thread, that Majorca has "silly prices" in the high season
guest being renowned for speaking plainly
Edited to say (after I've been criticised by pm by another member)....
that I agree with guest's comment....and meaning she often hits the nail on the head, like in this example.......
well I just researched this, as we like going to Majorca in the summer.........we used to have to go in the school holidays..but now have to AVOID the school holidays, so that other work staff can go then....
IN 2007 we went in July, and by the time we'd done extra work to cover staff in August, we were kernackered and felt like another holiday
I thought of going in September...but have just priced up 2 weeks with Thomson flying from our local airport..
for the same accommodation, going in July is £350 cheaper than going in September ......
i said to hubby, we might as well go in July and then have a mini-break in London (or somewhere) with the £350
has anyone else noticed this with prices?

Is it early in July, when the kids are still at school?
Maybe that's why it's cheaper, and Sept is still summer and hot in Majorca.
Happy booking. |

I think every place, not just Mallorca has silly prices in the summer.
The TO's summer tends to mean the six weeks of the UK school holidays, which obviously begin at the END of July, before that the prices are still reasonable. Here the prices are tending to be "silly" earlier, as there are a lot of Irish customers now, and their school holidays are different to the UK ones. _________________

didnt see what you said Acorn - but no worries
I only think this because ive now booked 4 holidays in high season to Majorca and the prices are rediculous - but the tour operators know they have a captive market ie the school kids and teenagers
September is the best time to holiday IMO |

It's going to cost more with the exchange being so poor. _________________ http://myspace.com/keef2
