Anyone tried these? I have bought some from Tesco so that we can have some "fresh" bread over Xmas.

I always have some in, you never know when yu need them. They make really good garlic/stilton bread because they are part cooked and once you put the filling in and cook they don't go too crusty.

I love them also but make sure to sprinkley them with water or they end up like rocks - I found this out the hard way at a dinner party years ago and ended up with soup and no bread now I always ensure I do what they packet says to avoid mishaps

Hi hbrac

I usually run them quickly under the cold tap and shake off the excess water or just wet a hand under the tap and wipe over the bread.

You can put a roasting dish with a small ammount of boiled water in the oven on the shelf below. Do this when you warm up the oven and i find it helps keep the bread crusty but not too dry.

I've used many different manufacturers and find the really longlife bread to be quite dry when baked. i now buy French rolls* from Asda or when i get over to Auschan in Calais i buy a few French Cobs and freeze them. Not sure why it is but, the French dough seems to freeze well and is as good as fresh when defrosted.

*They have a dusting of flour and use the French dough recipe.

Well we found they needed about 5 mins longer then on the instructions and needed turning because they were a bit soggy underneath.
