Please can anyone give me some idea of the prices for the boats on the lake and coach trips to Venice and into the Dolomites. I am trying to work out if we can afford to go to Lake Garda, I have found an AI hotel in Limone with brilliant reviews, its a fair price in comparison with half board hotels £1360 for two of us from 6th Sept for two weeks we could pay a little extra for a lake view and it looks awesome. I have been told that eating out is quite expensive so I think the AI option saves a lot of worry (they will do us a packed lunch for trips) So its now down to how much spending money we would need to see the sights, there is no point in going if we can't.
I really would appreciate your comments on my plans, I am very open to suggestions as I have never been to Italy before. This is a trip we have been planning for a while but its always come down to price so if theres a cheaper way please tell me, unfortunately we don't drive and have some disabilities so would need to be fairly close to the lake. Weather information for Sept would also be a great help.

Thanks

Lake Garda is beautiful. You will have a superb time. We were there a couple of years ago in May. We did the organised excursion to Venice. Think it was about £45 per person. The extras you had to pay was for the Gondola ride which you have to do if you are in Venice!! Think that was about 15euros pp, and you shared the gondala with 2 or 3 other couples. We also paid extra for an "organised" lunch but wouldn't bother with that again. Don't buy any coffees, ice creams etc in St Marks square as you wil pay about 15 euros for one ice cream! Shocked There are plenty of reasonable eating places in the little side streets.

We also did the Dolomites on the organised trip. Think that was about £40 as well. We also did Florence and that was about £55 but would definitely not recommend that. It is too far. It is over 4 hours to get there and we were delayed even more due to an accident on the motorway.

We also travelled about the lake by the ferries as well. Cannot really remember how much they were, although I do remember there are fast ferries and slow ferries, and the slower ones were cheaper. We stayed in Garda and visited Limone, Malcesine, Riva and Sirmione. We learned that the best place for eats/drinks etc were away from the lakeside. For example a couple of days before we were due to leave we found a fab little restaurant in Garda in the backstreets. Excellent food and value. The ones down on the lakeside were more expensive and some more so than others. You really had to have your wits about you not to get ripped off.

Sounds like you got a great deal with AI in Limone as I am sure we paid about that for Half Board for the 2 of us!! I am sure you will LOVE Italy. Everything is as it should be - Italian - No signs for "English Breakfast" "Steak Pie and Chips! Wonderful.
Have a great time and if there is anything else I can help you with, let me know.

Thanks Sugarbabes, There is so much to see I must get some kind of itinerary done, those trips are more expensive than I thought, this is going to be one very expensive holiday by the looks of it.
