For starters, how about thin slices of mozzarella cheese with some halved cherry tomatoes and slices of red onion with french dressing drizzled over the top?
A couple of slices of crusty french bread to mop up the dressing - I've found this really tasty and not to filling.
Plus, you can prepare it in advance and leave in the fridge.

Or for something hot, put peeled prawns in ramekin dishes or something similar, cover with single cream, season with black pepper and put breadcrumbs on the top. Put in the oven for 30 mins on 190 degrees. Pop them under the grill to brown off the breadcrumbs before serving.
Quick to prepare and absolutely yummy _________________

Thanks guys!! They ALL sound really YUM ..and I'll certainly do these next time!! You must all have been in bed...seeing as its the festive season and all that....I sat waiting for as long as I could for replies before I had to shop before I got snowed in completely!! I've done a bit of a cheat!! I've bought 'before' dinner nibbles..and some melba toast which I HAVE made my own pate for! THEN.....I've made a gallon of celery soup...will make some bread in breadmaker so that's hot to go with it. Main course....2 Jamie Oliver fish pies....I cooked these yesterday cos I find that they sort of 'solidify' and can be served better....with loadsa fresh veg. Pudding......individual cheescakes topped with ginger ala Waitrose! Shhhhhh!!!! Served with single cream.....cheese..grapes...biscuits......brandy....champagne at midnight! I feel knackered just typing it!!! Today is MASS house clean up....and a hangover cure as we were at a 40th birthday bash last night!!! One of the guests was asking last night what we were having!!! I told her I'd put the steak under the grill already...but turned it down low before I came out...and I'd had hubbie putting cheese and pineapple on sticks all afternoon!!! |

Thanks Carol!! It went off fine ....even though the soup did remind me of Bridget Jones's 'blue string' soup!!! Albeit mine was a delicate shade of green! Forgot to put out the croutons.....and hub forgot to offer around the brandy ! We didn't get to bed until 4 this morning and the time flew by...and no phone calls YET of food poisoning!!!!
