Hi All!
We have been invited to go with some friends to Edinburgh at christmas time and we have never been before - in fact Ive never been to Scotland before!!
Has anyone got any recomendations for places to visit, eat and drink?
We havent booked our hotel yet - which area should I aim for - would like to be in the middle of things if possible.
Thanks.

Hi Jools.
How long are you staying and will you have the car?
If you want to stay somewhere central at a low cost. Try
http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_...tel/hotel_id/205/EdinburghCentral
I entered 3 nts from 24th dec and it came up at £26 per night for the room nothing could touch that for a city centre location. Near Princess st, Royal Mile, The Castle and the main "waverly" train station. You also have Brittania at leith docks. If you are there for new year the hogmanay party along princess st is amazing. Then again new year up here is amazing anyway lol |

Joolz
The 8th and 9th is £65 but the 10th is £26 Still very hard to beat
I do know a hotel like a travelodge set up that does rooms for £25
Its near Falkirk about 40mins from Edinburgh city centre. You would need a car though
Have a look at

Happy to answer "or try to find out" if you have any questions |

I am now ready to start planning my trip to Edinburgh.
No date yet, but will only be there 2 or 3 nights.
I want to visit NAS, and Edinburgh Castle.
But I need to go to Drymen on of the days.
How much would it cost to travel from Glasgow to Edinburgh?
Might spend one night in Glasgow and tWo in Edinburgh.
I loved the Kelvingrove Hotel, in Sauchiehall St, so will stay there, but unsure where to stay in Edinburgh.
Need to be near Archives, and Family research centre.
Any ideas?

Hi CG Whats NAS :?:
The Travelodge above is very central, only a short walk from the castle and Family research centre.
Train takes an hour from Glasgow to Edinburgh single fares from £9.20 cheap day return. Single fare from £6.20
Are you driving or going by train :?: |

Hi Laws
NAS is the National Archives of Scotland.
I will be going by train.
Plane to Glasgow, then train to Edinburgh, or the other way round.
Fly to Edinburgh, then train to Glasgow.
Depneds where I stay first. |

Do you Drive emma?
For the money quoted to stay in the city centre would be worth a look to hire one for 3/4 days and stay outside the centre.
Hotels will be at a premium because of the new year party along princess st |

I do drive Laws, but i am under 25 so they wont insure me.
I was thinking that would be a better option.
We dont mid paying a bit more but we dont want to pay a whole lot of money for 3 nights.
Its going to cost £327 for the 3 nights in the travelodge you first posted. _________________
