We're off to DLP in May half term

Really looking forward to it. Bit surprised there is bugger all on this site about it . I've done plenty of research but it never feels enough.

We're staying at the Cheyenne hotel for two nights and have a three day pass. I've won a bid for some books 'brits guide to DLP' etc' which i have in front of me and I'm reading now.

But my main concern at the moment is the cost of eating out. Everyone warns you.

What say you ???

Should we bother with a character meal?
Can you buy food 'off site' and carry it with you? Is it worth doing that?

As we're off to spain in the summer this is a treat but we must watch the pennies. any ideas?

Will post my ideas when we return

many thanks

I'd say go for a Character Breakfast - it's the best way for the kids to get up close with the characters (not all of them do every breakfast, so you don't know "who" is coming).  We've always found it hard for the kids to get autographs/photos in the park itself, but at the breakfast they make sure everyone gets a chance.
You're not supposed to buy food off site & bring it in, they have picnic tables just outside for that; however, they don't normally police it very well, as I've seen all sorts of food coming out of rucksacks, etc.  Personally, I find the restaurants a bit pricey, but the hot dog & drink stands dotted around never seem to be too bad; the restaurants in the Disney Village are more competitive than those in the park, with a greater variety as well.
Hope that helps a bit.

we went with son and his g/f

we all enjoyed it
we stayed in the hotel that is meant to be a rangers hut
it was very good and nice and warm all night in the room

the weather was very cold
but not too many people there so not many queues

i loved the characters

Well we're back and I'm wacked

The hotel Cheyenne we stay in was great for the price we paid and the food at disney was expensive. In the end we eat out and spent a fortune.

And guess what I dont give a diddly

My kids loved every moment and my son wanted to stay an extra day

the weather could have been better but it just doesnt bother anyone

you just get on with it

I've tried to post photos but it just keeps coming up error.

Any way enjoy!

Florida here we come!!!!!!!!!!

I'm just back from Disneyland Paris - 4th time since February 07   . Can you tell we're hooked?

I just think, for little legs, Paris is a better option. Its much more compact than WDW and the kids can see everything in a much shorter timescale. The thought of my 7-year old on a plane for 9 hours to Orlando scares me to bits - "are we nearly there yet"         ????

We had a bad exerience at DLP in that it was there busiest weekend of the year when we went.  We queued for 5 hours to go on 4 rides - one of them was the Dumbo ride    which you could go on at any fair really.  It was a few years ago now but if anyone is thinking of going check it's not a french bank holiday or similar.

My daughter went with secondary school and they had a ball there was no one there midweek in term-time.

Orlando - FANTASTIC    Get the Brits Guide to Orlando - rates all the rides and tells you the quiet days to go to the parks.
