The fourth series of this game show started a couple of weeks ago and whilst up to now I've been a regular viewer, I'm becoming weary of the "sob story" culture this show is evolving into. It should be renamed "Sob or no Sob ?" or perhaps "Noels UnChristmas presents ? " Theres scarcely a day goes by without the contestant during the introduction process pausing, fighting back tears showing us photos and telling us about this problem, that bereavement or whatever. Then as has hapenned a few times over the last few days when the contestant got too greedy and ended up with 50p - the banker gets soft and gives them a consolation prize ! Yesterday because the sob story was about wanting to buy a diamond ring for his wife who is in remission and after turning down £20,000 he went on to end up with £50 - the banker rang up and promised to buy the ring.
Well, heartwarming it may be, but this is supposed to be a hard headed battle of wits and judgement. Its getting to the point where maybe they should only show this at Christmas.
