I'm in a lazy mood today so I could suggest the following;
Buy a tin of condensed milk and gently boil it (unopened) in a large pan for 5 hours. Check the pan doesn't boild dry as you do this and keep the water level topped-up.
When you open the can the result is a ready made spreadable caramel.
PLace shortcrust biscuit fingers in a dish - packed together. Cover with a layer of the caramel and allow to cool and harden slightly.
Melt some chocolate in a bown placed over simmering water and then spread the runny chocolate over the caramel.
Allow to cool and harden and then use a pallet knife to ease each shortbread finger out of the dish.
Send the remaining caramel and chocolate in the dish to me for cleaning.
