Depends which type you have Dot
You can get some 5 minute cous cous that you just simmer for 5 mins. Some you keep in the bag and just fling them in the micro
If it the natural cous cous then yes you do put that in a saucepan with water and boil until the liquid reduces out.
Sound like you have an instant one _________________

| Why cous cous?, it has no flavour. Normally you just add boiling water and leave for 5 to 10 minutes, then add other ingrediants to give flavour, eg. nuts or herbs. |

Dot
Does the pack say how many it serves
If it's normal cous cous then one bag(whitworths) would feed a starving african family
If it's the instant type then they usually seve 2.I think the last pack I had you had to cover with boiling water and it was already flavoured.....garlic and corriander I think _________________

Just follow the instructions on the packet. It only takes a few minutes.
Cous cous, if you buy it plain, is boring and you have to add flavour - and it feeds the 5000!
But it sounds like you have a sort-of "ready" version, which should have more flavour. You can make stock instead of water for added flavour. _________________

right...i've got the packet and it says do 250gm's for 4 people....so i'll do 100gm's.
chocs...when i cook i just make it up as i go.
i'm going to put some peppers in it with red onion..i'll put a stock cube in...and at the end i'll stir in some chilli sauce.
yes i've got a feeling we'll either love it...or the packet will be in the bin by tomorrow.
i just wanted to try something different. |

cook the peppers separately and add when you stir the cous cous after the standing time, dont be tempted to touch it, make sure you keep the lid on for the alloted time.

Just add boiling water to cover by about 0.5" and cover with a T towel for about 5 mins. Add to sauce, either curried, chilli or whatever you fancy. Lovely! _________________

I buy packs of garlic and mushroom cous cous from Sainsburys.
I serve it with chicken and rocket and spinach salad - lovely! _________________

Quinoa...I bought some last week. Cooked it. Took one mouthful and threw the whole bag away. It wasn't cheap either  _________________
