Its from an extremely old Hamlyn Cook Book....got it when I got married..so easily 34years old! Our boys loved these brownies so much they used to ask for them instead of birthday cakes!!! I'll give you the recipe as it is in the book..... I used to double it and do it...I mean..MAKE it ..in a roasting tin!

Preparation time..15 mins
Cooking Time......35 mins
Oven Setting ....375 F or Gas Mark 5

4oz s.r.flour
quarter level teaspoon salt
1 and half oz cocoa
4oz butter
8 oz soft brown sugar
2 eggs, blended
1 tablespoon milk

ICING
1 and half oz butter
1oz cocoa sieved
3 tablespoons evaporated milk
4oz icing sugar, sieved

1. Grease oblong tin about 11 x 7 inches, 1 inch deep. Sieve together flour, salt & cocoa.

2. In another bowl beat butter and sugar until light and creamy.

3 Add eggs a little at a time, beating well after each addition.

4. Folk sieved ingredients into mixture with milk. Mix well and turn into prepared tin.

5. Bake in a moderately hot oven for about 35 mins until centre of sponge springs back when lightly pressed. Allow to cool in tin.
THEN DO ICING.....

ICING
1. Melt butter for icing.
2. Add cocoa and cook over a low heat for 1 minute.
3. Remove from heat and add evaporated milk and sieved icing sugar.
4. Mix thoroughly, spread over cake in tin and leave to set.
5. Cut cake in 15 squares.

Here's another recipe I got from another site. My kids have just made them, they're that easy ... and they are yummy!!! Thought the weetabix was an odd ingredient .. but they were gorgeous.

In a bowl put
4 crushed weetabix
4oz caster sugar
4oz self raising flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
pkt chocolate drops (i used a 25p 100g tescos own milk chocolate chopped up)
mix this altogether

then take 4oz of melted marg(I used Butter) and stir this into the mixture along with an egg

mix well and put in a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes at electric 180.
