How do you feed a 15 year old girl (for 3 days over the New Year) who has coeliac disease and cannot tolerate any gluten and to make matters even more complicated is also vegetarian?

Thanks Julie, that's going to be very helpful
It's going to be very strange, especially with all the Christmas stuff still around.

Please forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know but coeliacs require separate butter or anything spread, any crumbs of normal bread contained within can make them very poorly.  You need to use a separate chopping board and utensils too.

You can buy special pizza bases so maybe a veggie pizza might be easy?

That sounds very tricky, chubba...

Can you get any advice from her parents, or ask her what she normally eats, or would like to eat?

what about stuffed butternut squash?
(not sure what to stuff it with......... )

hi Chubba,

My step sons girlfriend is a sufferer and when she stays over will bring her own stuff! I have used the list from sainsburys on the link below which may be of some help to you.

Thanks for the answers everyone.
SP - I realise that contamination would be a problem (especially in our house ). They are buying a toaster as soon as they get over here and will use it at all the places that they visit. I am going to get a new chopping board and utensils and nominate a surface in the kitchen that we have never used for food preparation for her use.
I'm hoping that she or her mum will do her cooking and I can cook for the rest of the herd

Thanks for the link TonyW - we don't have a Sainsburys within 50 miles but it will give me a clue for the other supermarkets.

Yes, the nearest Tesco is 23 miles away but I also work in that town so that's where I usually shop. It's only a small branch with an ever decreasing range . If I go an extra 8 miles away from home there is a humongous Tesco so I'll go there - it's a scary place though

Edited to ask if you can freeze gluten-free bread?

In which part of outer Mongolia do you live Chubba?

Do they not do online orders delivered to your house?

You don't have to go to the trouble of buying new utensils etc. as long as you wash them after spreading/cutting normal food. A clean sheet of foil will do on the grill rather than buying a new toaster.

You don't know how fussy my sister is     . When I visited her in Oz she rinsed her dishes in a bleach solution before she put them in the dishwasher.
It's going to be a big culture shock visiting her big sis in the countryside
